Meteorologist Rick Sluben recently joined us at ABC40 and FOX 6 in February 2011 after a short hiatus from the broadcast industry.
If he looks familiar it’s because Rick was the weekday morning and noon meteorologist at WWLP-TV for eight years ending last summer. because so, he brings with him plenty of experience forecasting western Massachusetts weather.
Prior to his long tenure at WWLP, Rick worked as a broadcast meteorologist for WSI Corporation in Andover, Mass. where along other duties, he was a regular on-air meteorologist for cable networks such as MSNBC, Fox News Channel and Bloomberg TV, covering many major weather disasters.
While at WSI, he also was the fill-in meteorologist at WFXT-TV, the FOX affiliate in Boston.
Rick has two degrees in meteorology – a B.S. degree in meteorology from Plymouth State University in New Hampshire and a M.S. degree in meteorology from Florida State University.
Except for the two years spent at grad school in Florida, he’s a lifelong New England native. Rick and his family are all avid outdoor enthusiasts, particularly hiking, biking and skiing!
